All species capable of grasping this fact manage better in the struggle for existence than those which rely upon their own strength alone: the wolf, which hunts in a pack, has a greater chance of survival than the lion, which hunts alone.
Christian Lous Lange
Wolves hunt in packs of 6-10 and cooperate on bringing down their prey.  They roam great distances and live in a pack with a strict social hierarchy.  Their very survival is based on a cooperative approach.

Walruses often get together in large groups and communicate with loud bellows and grunts.  Considered one of the most social animals, walruses protect themselves and others with their long tusks and overwhelming numbers.
